What restroom setup does a wedding need?
A wedding of 150 guests with a bar over 6 hours needs about 6 standard porta potties, or 2 deluxe flushing units plus 2 standard units, or one 2-station restroom trailer plus 1 standard unit for overflow. Add 1 wheelchair-accessible unit whenever older guests or guests with mobility needs attend.
| Guests | Standard only | Mixed | Trailer |
|---|---|---|---|
| 75 | 3 | 1 deluxe + 1 standard | 2-station trailer |
| 150 | 6 | 2 deluxe + 2 standard | 2-station trailer + 1 standard |
| 250 | 10 | 3 deluxe + 4 standard | Larger trailer + 2 standard |
Each setup also needs 1 hand-washing station per 4 standard units when the plan has no sinks. Compare costs on the cost guide.
Where should wedding restrooms be placed?
Place wedding restrooms 50 to 150 feet from the reception tent, downwind, on level ground, with a lit path. Close enough that guests find them in the dark, far enough that no one smells or hears them during toasts. Restroom trailers also need a garden hose and a 110-volt outlet.
- Barn venues on gravel roads: send a map with the drop spot marked.
- Use string lights or solar stakes along the path after sunset.
- Put the accessible unit on the hard path nearest the tent.

Wedding restroom questions
Should I get a restroom trailer or porta potties for my wedding?
A restroom trailer suits formal weddings with water and power nearby. Deluxe flushing units suit backyard and barn weddings without hookups. Standard units suit casual, budget weddings. Many couples mix one trailer or deluxe unit with standard units.
When are wedding units delivered?
Wedding units are delivered the day before the wedding and picked up the next business day. A Saturday wedding gets a Friday drop-off and a Monday pickup at no extra cost.
How far ahead should I book wedding restrooms?
Book wedding restrooms 4 to 8 weeks ahead for May through October Saturdays. Restroom trailers book first.
Can someone service the units during the reception?
A mid-event attendant visit can be added for long or large receptions. It covers pumping, wiping down and restocking.
