What is a standard porta potty?
A standard porta potty is a single-user plastic restroom with a toilet seat over a 60-gallon waste tank, a urinal, a hand-sanitizer dispenser and a toilet paper holder. The standard porta potty needs no water or power, fits a 5 × 5 ft spot, and handles about 200 uses between cleanings.

Exact numbers vary slightly by model. Ask for the model on your quote if a gate or doorway is tight.
Will a standard porta potty fit through my gate?
A standard porta potty is about 44 inches wide, so it fits through a 48-inch gate with room for the driver's hands. A 36-inch gate is too narrow. When the gate is narrow, the unit goes in the driveway or side yard, where the service truck can still reach it.
- The truck needs to park within about 25 feet of the unit to pump it.
- Leave about 1 foot of clear space on each side and 3 feet in front of the door.
- Avoid low branches and overhead lines. The unit is about 7.5 feet tall.

How long does a standard porta potty last before it needs cleaning?
One standard porta potty handles about 200 uses before it needs pumping. That covers 50 guests for a 4-hour party, or a crew of 10 for a 40-hour work week. Busier sites add a second unit or a second weekly service visit.
| Use | Covers | Service |
|---|---|---|
| Party, up to 4 hours | 50 guests | None during the party |
| Party, 5–8 hours | 40 guests | None during the party |
| Construction, 40-hour week | 10 workers comfortably; OSHA minimum is 1 per 20 | Weekly |
| Home remodel | Household plus crew | Weekly |

Standard porta potty questions
How much is a standard porta potty in Lincoln?
A standard porta potty for an event in Lincoln usually runs $165 to $225 for 1 to 5 days, with delivery and pickup inside Lincoln included. For a job site, it usually runs $145 to $195 per 28 days with weekly service, plus a one-time delivery fee.
Does a standard porta potty have a sink?
A standard porta potty has a hand-sanitizer dispenser, not a sink. Add a hand-washing station, or choose a deluxe flushing unit, when food is served or guests expect soap and water.
Does a standard porta potty have a urinal?
A standard porta potty has both a toilet seat and a wall urinal. OSHA counts one standard unit as one toilet seat and one urinal for crew sizing.
Can I move the porta potty after it is delivered?
Please do not move a full porta potty. It can tip and spill. If it needs to move, call and the driver will pump it and move it during a service visit.
Does it come with toilet paper?
Every standard porta potty comes with toilet paper and hand sanitizer. Rentals longer than a week are restocked at each weekly service.
Will it smell?
A serviced porta potty has a deodorizer in the tank and a vent stack that pulls odor up and out. Placing the door away from the sun and servicing on schedule keeps odor low.
